Levy Project Spotlight: Roofing repair and replacement with a photo of Byron Kibler Elementary roof in the background

On April 22, 2025, voters in the Enumclaw School District will have the opportunity to vote on a capital levy to fund urgent facility repairs, student health and safety improvements, and critical infrastructure needs.

The proposed list of levy projects includes approximately $2.7 million for roofing repairs and replacements:

Byron Kibler Elementary: Replace roofing for the main building, portables, and playground.

The current Roof is a single-ply roof that has exceeded its life span and is worn out. Despite ongoing repairs and maintenance, on average, each time it rains, there is a minimum of 2 or more leak calls from the building requiring temporary buckets and hiring of roofing contractors to patch leaks once the weather permits. The roof requires resurfacing with another 10-year warranty for a single-ply roof.

Westwood Elementary: Replace 200 building & portable roofs.

The original roof was installed when the 200 Building was added in 2000. It has exceeded its life span and needs replacement.

Enumclaw High School: Replace roofing in the areas not included in the 2015 modernization.

These areas were last updated in 2000 and have now exceeded their lifespan. Leaks around hallway connections and individual rooms have become a maintenance concern in recent years, requiring replacement to avoid future issues.

J.J. Smith: Recoat the east wing roof and gym/skylights.

The current roof installed in 2015 was a maintenance coating with a 10-year warranty. The roof has now reached the end of its life span and needs to be replaced with another 10-year coating.
