Committee Members discussing in small groups

Public schools belong to the entire community, and funding for capital improvements is generated through voter-approved bond measures. It is essential that community members help develop ESD's long-term capital facilities plan to reflect the values and priorities of the community.

The Community Facilities Oversight for Capital Utilization and Sustainability (FOCUS) Committee serves as a community-led citizens' committee that will study the capital facilities needs of the district, review data, and develop recommendations for the school board designed to meet the needs of ESD students, families, staff, and the community over the next 20 years.

The committee held its third meeting on March 26, 2024. During the meeting, the committee summarized the work of the previous meetingrelated to district facilities. The committee then began reviewing Enumclaw School District demographics and enrollment. Davis Demographics, a third-party professional service that provides demographer services and demographic reports to school districts, provided a presentation.

Committee members broke into small table groups to discuss questions generated by the presentation. Each group had an opportunity to share questions gathered and have them answered by the presenters.

The FOCUS committee will meet again on April 2, 2024, at 6:00 pm. The public is encouraged to attend and observe the FOCUS meetings.
